An overlay is an Android package that holds resource replacements for existing packages like Gmail, Instagram, Settings or SystemUI.
This means that you could have overlays found from your favorite themes on Substratum that themes third party apps, or any other overlay found online that would for example, change the location of your clock in the status bar or remove all the icons from your lock screen!
With this app, people are able to theme most, if not all apps on their device. They are no longer limited to just having a theme for system apps like a typical Samsung themes provide, but rather a theme to make Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, WeChat, Gmail, Snapchat, or any other app pretty!
